Applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years old or older as determined from the applicant's date of birth.
Applicant must not hold an active resident license in another state.
Applicant must provide residence, business and mailing addresses. Residence address must not contain a P.O. Box.
Non-citizens of the U.S. must have a resident license for selling insurance in one of the fifty (50) U.S. states.
Applicant’s National Producer Number (NPN) must match current PDB record, if applicable.
Applicants for the variable line of authority (LOA) must supply FINRA CRD number on application.
Variable applicants must hold Mississippi life license or apply for life license in order to be eligible for variable life and variable annuity products.
Licenses with status reason of canceled for cause (1689), revoked (12), and suspended (11) cannot reapply for a license.
If applicant has status reason Failure to Renew, they are sent to Resident License Renewal (RLR) Application if within one (1) year of the expiration date. If over one (1) year, they go through normally. Applicants with no status reasons should not be allowed to reinstate.
Applicants applying for surplus lines insurance producer must already hold an active insurance producer with LOA property, casualty, and/or personal lines
Surplus lines applicants must already hold at least one (1) active appointment on PDB in Mississippi.
Automobile club agent applicants must have a signed endorsement faxed to the Mississippi Department of Insurance. For more information contact the state.
Licenses with a status reason of canceled for cause, revoked and suspended may not reapply for a license.
Temporary limited lines insurance producer may not reapply after license expiration.
All Public Adjuster licenses expire on May 31 each year, regardless of issue date. This includes both first-time applicants and those reinstating their licenses. Unless the applicant needs a license immediately, the Mississippi Insurance Department suggests waiting until June 1 to apply for a full-year license.
