Applicant Can

  • Submit initial application for business entities electronically.
  • Submit limited lines of authority.
  • Submit surplus lines for business entities.
  • Add lines of authority (amend) to an existing active license.
  • Reinstate/reapply through NIPR's Resident License Application.
  • Print licenses electronically.

Applicant Cannot

  • Submit partial renewals.

Business Rules

  • Applicant Notification and Record Challenge: Your fingerprints will be used to check the criminal history records of the FBI. You have the opportunity to complete or challenge the accuracy of the information contained in the FBI identification record. The procedure for obtaining a change, correction, or updating an FBI identification record are set forth in Title 28. CFR. 16.34.

  • Applicant's license number, state of residence and Tax ID must match current Producer Database (PDB) record for resident state.

  • Applicants can reapply for a license if license has been inactive more than one (1) year with status reason of renewal payment not received, or license is inactive for any length of time with any status reason other than renewal payment not received.

  • At least one (1) Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) must have an active resident or non-resident license in West Virginia.

  • The DRLP license class must be equivalent to the license class the business entity is applying for

  • Applicants applying for Travel Insurance Business Entity license class must submit Retail Locations form to West Virginia. The form can be found on the West Virginia website at - http://www.wvinsurance.gov/AgentLicensing/AgentLicensingForms.aspx – then select the Travel BE Retailer Form within the Agency Licensing section. Instructions are provided on the form.

  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.
