  • Applicants renewing the license classes of Viatical Settlement Broker, Viatical Settlement Provider, Viatical Settlement Investment Agent, Surplus Lines Agent, and Automobile Club Agent have a thirty (30) day grace period after the license expiration date to renew the license, with no additional fee.

Rules and Regulations

Applicant Can

  • Submit renewals for individuals electronically.
  • Submit renewals for major lines of authority.
  • Submit renewals for limited lines of authority.
  • Submit renewals for surplus lines for individuals.
  • Late renew through NIPR's Non-Resident Renewal (NRR) Application.
  • Print license electronically.

Applicant Cannot

  • Submit partial renewals.

Business Rules

  • In order to be eligible for renewal or late renewal, the status reason on PDB must be "Active" or "Expired." If the status reason is not "Active" or "Expired" the renewal will not be allowed.

  • Applicant's name, birth date, Tax ID, license number, and addresses must match current Producer Database (PDB) record for resident state.

  • Life must be renewed when renewing Variable Life and Variable Annuity in Tennessee.

  • Surplus Lines Agent applicant must have an active Insurance Producer license in Tennessee prior to renewing Surplus Lines Agent license.

  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions, please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.
