Applicant Can

Applicant Cannot

  • Submit partial renewals.

Business Rules

  • In order to be eligible for Renewal or Late Renewal, the status reason on PDB must be 'Active' or 'Expired.' If the status reason is not 'Active' or 'Expired' the renewal will not be allowed.

  • Applicant's name, birth date, Tax ID, license number, and addresses must match current Producer Database (PDB) record for resident state.

  • Life must be renewed when renewing Variable Life and Variable Annuity in Tennessee.

  • Surplus lines agent applicant must have an active Insurance Producer license in Tennessee prior to renewing surplus lines agent license.

  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions, please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.

Renewal Period Begins: Ninety (90) days prior to expiration date.

Late Renewal Period: Up to one year past license expiration date

Tennessee licensees can submit primary name changes electronically through NIPR. Please access the following link: https://pdb.nipr.com/my-nipr/frontend/identify-licensee

 

 

  • Entities may submit a request to update information by submitting a signed and dated request directly to the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance. The request must include the entity name, Tennessee license number, and full name of individual/entity to be added or removed.

  • Licensees attempting to change residency status from resident to nonresident or nonresident to resident must contact the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance directly for assistance.
