Apply for a license

To apply for a license in Tennessee, visit LicenseHub.
If you can’t apply for the lines for which you have qualified, contact the state to verify that they have received the exams and any necessary pre-licensing education completion information. Also ensure that they have reported this to NIPR with the correct last name, social security number and date of birth. 

Renew a license

To renew a license in Tennessee, visit LicenseHub.

If you can’t renew a particular line offered via NIPR, verify that the line is actively held in your resident state. If the line is not held, you cannot request that line via NIPR.

Report changes to Affiliations or Designated Responsible Licensed Producers

Changes to affiliations or Designated Responsible Licensed Producers (DRLPs) should be submitted through the LicenseHub.

Report changes to Owners, Officers, Partners or Directors

Submit a request to update information by sending a signed, dated request to the Tennessee DCI. The request must include the entity name, Tennessee license number and full name of individual/entity to be added or removed.  


Submit the request, as an attachment, to the email address at the bottom of this page.  

Understand residency type changes 

Insurance professionals who need to change their residency status from resident to nonresident or from nonresident to resident must contact the Tennessee DCI by phone or email for assistance.
