Rules and Regulations

Applicant Can

  • Submit renewals for individuals electronically.
  • Submit renewals for surplus lines for individuals.
  • Late renew through NIPR's Non-Resident Renewal Application.
  • Print license electronically.

Applicant Cannot

  • Submit Partial renewals.

Business Rules

  • Applicant must provide a valid business email address.

  • Insurance Producers reinstating up to one (1) year after license expiration date will be charged double retaliation fee.

  • Applicants applying for the Variable Life and Variable Annuity line of authority (LOA) must supply a FINRA Central Registry Depository (CRD) number.  If you need to verify your CRD number you may use the Broker Search feature found on FINRA's website.

  • Surplus lines applicants must hold an active Surplus Lines license in the resident state.

  • Managing General Agent renewal applicants must have an active Insurance Producer license on the producer database.

  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax. All other required documentation must be forwarded directly to the state.

Reinstatement period

Starts: Day after expiration date. Ends: One (1) year past expiration date.

Managing General Agent
