  • All fees are charged per application.
  • Note: New Jersey allows a thirty (30) day grace period to renew license without late fee after license expiration date.

Rules and Regulations

Applicant Can

  • Submit renewals for individuals electronically.
  • Submit renewals for surplus lines for individuals.
  • Late renew through NIPR's Resident License Renewal Application.
  • License printing available electronically.
  • Print Licenses Electronically.

Applicant Cannot

  • Submit partial renewals.

Business Rules

  • An affiliation is not required and the applicant may skip the "Affiliations" page on the uniform application.

  • New Jersey will allow reinstatement of a license through NIPR's Resident License Application if submitted one (1) year after expiration date. If within one year, applicant must late renew using NIPR's Resident Renewal Application.

  • Applicants who have major lines of authority, Surplus Lines, or Title, are required to fulfill twenty-four (24) hours of certified education (CE), with three (3) of those hours in ethics.

  • Insurance Producers with limited lines only licenses are not required to fulfill CE requirements.

  • Applicants must provide a valid residence or business address in the state of New Jersey. Addresses may not include P.O. Box.

  • Applicants must not have an active non-resident license in New Jersey.

  • Applicants must answer, "Are you a disabled veteran?" If answer is yes, applicant must send proof to the state of Disabled Veteran status such as a recent letter from the Veteran's Administration.

  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions, please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax. All other required documentation must be forwarded directly to the state.

Renewal Periods

Note: Licenses renew biennially on the last day of the birth month.

  • All License Classes
    • Renewal Period: Ninety (90) days prior to expiration date - expiration date of license.
    • Renewal Grace Period: Up to thirty (30) days after license expiration.
    • Late Renewal: Thirty-one (31) days after expiration date – one (1) year past expiration date.

Continuing Education

NIPR verifies compliance with the states CE requirement prior to allowing submission of a renewal application. You may select your resident state on the following link: Verify My CE to view your CE transcript and determine whether the state has updated your status to compliant in their system and on what date.  It generally takes up to 72 hours from the compliance date for the status to be updated in our system.
