Business Rules

Applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years old or older as determined from the applicant's date of birth.

Applicants are not required to list affiliations on the Agency or Business Entity Affiliations section of the application. Information provided on the page will not be updated in the state’s system.

Applicant must not have an active Non-Resident license in Nevada.

Applicant must not already have an equivalent license for the requested Lines of Authority (LOAs) in the state.

Applicant must provide business email address and resident address on the application. Address may not contain a P.O. Box.

At least one address provided on application must be in the state of Nevada.

Employment history must show at least five (5) years and be listed in order from current employer back five (5) years with no gaps.

Applicant with an active license that is thirty (30) days or less past expiration must late renew through the Resident License Renewal (RLR) Application.

Applicant with a status reason of "Failure to Renew" may reapply/reactivate license through Resident Licensing as long as current date is thirty-one (31) or more days past expiration and the license is inactive.
- Insurance Producers with a status reason other than Failure to Renew- CE must reinstate through the RLR application 31 days up to one year.
- Insurance Producers with Failure to Renew- CE must reinstate directly with the state- 31 days up to one year.

Surplus Lines Broker applicants must hold an active Res Producer/Producer Firm license with Property and Casualty lines of authority. Applications will defer for state review. Once application has been approved please contact the Nevada Surplus Lines Association:

Applicant applying for Res Producer/Producer Firm - Variable Annuities and Variable Life lines must actively hold or apply for NV Res Producer/Producer Firm - Life line of authority.

Applicants for the Variable Annuities / Variable Life Line of Authority must supply FINRA CRD number on application.

A Staff Adjuster is a person who investigates, negotiates, or settles workers' compensation claims, and is Employed by a registered Third-Party Administrator.

A Company Adjuster is a person Employed by an authorized insurance company, and Investigates, negotiates, or settles workers' compensation claims.

Applicants with an active Producer license with the Property or Casualty Line of Authority or Surplus Lines Broker License cannot obtain a Company Adjuster Independent Adjuster, Public Adjuster, or Staff Adjuster license.

Independent Adjuster, Company Adjuster, Staff Adjuster or Public Adjuster applicants may not actively hold a license with the Property or Casualty line of authority or Surplus Lines Broker license. License cannot be held simultaneously, and the adjuster license must be surrendered directly with the state. This also applies to active Res Producer with Property and Casualty and Surplus Lines Broker licensees may not apply for Independent Adjuster, Company Adjuster or Public Adjuster licenses.

Applicants who are non-citizen must provide a copy of work authorization or green card and must reside in the U.S.

Staff Adjuster (2225) license requires sponsorship by Third Party Administrative firm.

Two Years
Submit an application along with a Letter of Clearance from your resident state and have fingerprints done
- A Letter of Clearance may be requested when the resident producer is leaving the state and wishes to be licensed in another state. Letter of Clearance, please submit the Clearance Letter Form DOC 323 by faxing to 775-687-0797.
