Rules and Regulations
Applicant Can
- Submit initial license for individuals electronically.
- Submit surplus lines for individuals.
- Add lines of authority (amend) to an existing active license.
- Reinstate through NIPR's Non-Resident License Application.
- Print licenses electronically.
Business Rules
Applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years old or older as determined from the applicant's date of birth.
Applicant must hold equivalent license in resident state to apply for surplus line of authority.
One year after expiration, applicant must apply as new.
Applicants for the variable line of authority must supply a FINRA Central Registry Depository (CRD) number on the application. If you need to verify your CRD number you may use the Broker Search feature found on FINRA's website.
Applicants must not apply for both 'property & casualty' line of authority and single authorities of 'property' and 'casualty'.
Applicant must not apply for nor actively hold both 'Life, Accident & Health' combination and single authorities of 'Life' and 'Accident & Health'.
Applicant applying for Producer/Title with a resident state of Arizona, California, Illinois, Kentucky, or Texas must instead apply for the Non-Resident Title – Designated Home State license and will be subject to Indiana pre-licensing and continuing education requirements. Please apply for this license online at http://www.in.gov/idoi/
If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax. All other required documentation must be forwarded directly to the state.
