Georgia Alert Application Processing Times
Due to recent delays and long call wait times, the Georgia Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire (OCI) has extended the renewal date for any agent requiring a license renewal until December 31, 2020. For more details please read the bulletin located on the Georgia OCI website.
- Fees shown are state fees only. These fees do not include NIPR transaction fees.
- All fees are charged per application.

- $5.00 Processing Fee for Renewal
- $15.00 late fee
- $15.00 Processing Fee for Reinstatements
- $150.00 penalty fee for reinstatements

- There are no license renewals allowed 15 - 18 days past license expiration date. The reinstatement window will begin 18 days after expiration date and will continue until one year past license expiration. Applicant may reinstate their license through NIPR's Resident License Renewal (RLR) Application with the processing fee for renewal, processing fee for reinstatement, late renewal fee, and penalty fee charged in addition to standard license fees. If applicant license is inactive and has been expired for more than one year, applicant can reapply through the Resident License (RL) Application at the normal licensing fees.
- If an applicant, of any license class, adds a line of authority to their license within 60 days before the license expiration date, they are not required to pay the renewal fee for the added lines. The LOAs are automatically included in their renewal.

Business Rules

Applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years old or older as determined from the applicant's date of birth.

Applicant must provide a valid mailing address and business address. The business address must be in the state of Georgia. P.O. Boxes are not allowed for residence address.

Applicants for the variable line of authority (LOA) must supply FINRA CRD number on application and hold or apply for life within the same application.

Applications for “inactive” or “cancelled” licenses with a status reason other than “failure to renew” or “canceled for continuing education- reinstatable” will be allowed through Resident License (RL) Application. If they do hold these statuses these licenses are considered reinstatements and should use Resident License Renewal (RLR) Application.

Georgia does not allow partial renewal.
- Surplus Lines Broker renewal requires an active Property and Casualty line of authority (LOA) on the resident Georgia license. The Agent Resident license, with Property and Casualty, renewal must be completed before the Surplus Lines – Resident license will be processed.
- Every non us citizen must provide the following documents via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse.
- A signed, notarized copy of the Citizenship Affidavit Form and a copy of one secure and verifiable identification document.
- If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse.

All License Classes
Renewal Period: Ninety (90) days prior to expiration date - Expiration Date- Biennially on the last day of the Birth Month
Late Renewal Period: The day after expiration date up to fifteen (15) days after.
Reinstatement Period: Eighteen (18) days past expiration date up to one (1) year after.
- NIPR does not verify compliance with the states CE requirement prior to allowing submission of a renewal application, however compliance is required prior to the states approval of the request. You may select your resident state on the following link: Verify My CE to view your CE transcript and determine whether the state has updated your status to compliant in their system and on what date. It generally takes up to 72 hours from the compliance date for the status to be updated in our system.
