Rules and Regulations

Applicant Can

  • Submit initial license for individuals electronically.
  • Submit major lines of authority.
  • Submit limited lines of authority.
  • Submit Surplus Lines for individuals.
  • Add lines of authority (amend) to an existing active license.
  • Reinstate/reapply through NIPR's Resident License (RL) Application.
  • Print licenses electronically.

Business Rules

  • Applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years old. 

  • Applicant must provide a valid residence, mailing address and business address. P.O Boxes are not allowed for resident or business address. 

  • Georgia does require fingerprints. Registration for a fingerprint appointment will not be approved until after you have applied for your license.

  • Georgia Department of Insurance requires every applicant to verify proof of lawful presence in the United States by submitting a signed, notarized copy of the Citizenship Affidavit Form and a copy of one secure and verifiable identification document via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse.

  • Applicants for the Variable line of authority (LOA) must supply FINRA CRD number on application and hold or apply for Life within the same application.

  • Public Adjuster-resident license applicants must select both Public Adjuster Casualty and Public Adjuster Property LOAs.

  • To be eligible for surplus lines, applicants must hold an active Georgia agent - resident property & casualty licenses.
    • Completion of $50,000 surplus lines bond is required for licensing. Click here to print the bond form and after completion upload to your application to NIPR Warehouse.
  • If applicant responds "yes" to any of the background questions, supporting documents must be electronically uploaded via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse
