If applicant has recently passed an Insurance Producer exam and the requested line of authority is not showing under “Insurance Producer,” DO NOT select any lines of authority under the Fraternal Agent License. Applicant must wait 1-3 business days from passing the exam for results to upload to NIPR.

If applicant is attempting to renew an Insurance Producer license after the expiration date, click Renew an Existing License. Do not apply for a new license under a different license class. Refunds will not be granted. If applicant has questions or is unsure of what license to select, email Connecticut directly at: cid.licensing@ct.gov before the application is submitted.

Applicant must renew the license before applying for additional lines/ amending.

An affiliation is not required, and the applicant may proceed past the "Affiliations" page on the uniform application.
- Insurance Producer with Life LOA must actively hold or be applying renewed in conjunction with Variable Life and Variable Annuities.
- Applicants must supply the FINRA CRD in the application for Variable Life and Variable Annuities
- Insurance Producer and PA 187 Travel applicants that have been inactive for more than one year past expiration date may reinstate through (RL) application.
- Can enter a DBA (doing business as) name. All other license types are prohibited.
- Insurance Producer with Life Settlement Registration LOA
- Applicant must have held an active Insurance Producer Life license for at least one year to apply for a Life Settlement authority.
- Applicant cannot add multiple lines of authority to Insurance Producer license when adding Life Settlement Registration
- Reapplications - Insurance Producer Life must first be approved and displayed on the Producer Database before adding the Life Settlement line of authority to license.
- Casualty Adjuster, MVPD Appraisers, Public Adjusters, Certified Insurance Consultant, Fraternal Agents, Reinsurance Intermediary Broker, Reinsurance Intermediary Manager, and Surplus Lines Life Settlement Broker and Surety Bail Bond Agent applicants may reinstate the day after the expiration date for up to 2 years. After 2 years must retake the exam.

Fraternal Agent Variable Life and Variable Annuity applicants must actively hold or apply in conjunction with Fraternal Agent Life.

Casualty Adjuster applicants cannot apply for more than one line of authority within the license class on the same application.

Surplus Lines applicants must actively hold both single lines of Property and Casualty under the Insurance Producer license class prior to submitting the Surplus Lines Broker application.

Your application information will be reviewed and processed by the Connecticut Insurance Department. Most applications will be processed within 7-10 business days. You will receive an email notification from the State once the LICENSE has been APPROVED. Check for your approved license at: www.ct.gov/cid. On the home page, select Licensing. On Licensing’s Home Page, select Verify and Print a License.
