Rules and Regulations
Applicant Can
- Submit initial license for individuals electronically.
- Reinstate/reapply through NIPR's No Home State License (NHS) Application.
- Print licenses electronically.
Applicant Cannot
- Late renew through NIPR's Resident License Renewal (RLR) Application.
- Submit limited lines of authority.
- Submit a partial renewal. All Lines of Authority must be renewed.
Business Rules
Applicant must provide a valid business fax number and email address.
All submitted phone numbers must be exactly 10 digits.
Applicant must provide residence or Business address not in the state of Alaska.
Any changes to the lines of the authority (LOAs) on the license being renewed must be made directly with the state division of insurance.
Applicants must renew all LOAs appearing as active on Producer Database (PDB) associated with applicant license class.
Variable annuities or variable life applicants must hold active life LOA before renewing.
If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.
Applications not completed within four (4) months from the date filed will be considered withdrawn and new application forms and fees will be required pursuant to Alaska Statute 21.27.020(f).
Please Note: If licensee identifies that administrative action has been taken that has not been previously reported to this state or the licensee has had a criminal conviction or been charged with a crime, a statement of the circumstances and copies of the court documents must be filed for review. Administrative actions require the licensee to submit copies of the action or file the information through NIPR.com (warehouse of actions) for staff review and approval.
Third-Party Administrator (TPA) Applicant Requirements
- All third party administrator renewal applicants must submit or be aware of the following requirements. Documents can be submitted using the mailing address referenced in the State Contact Information section.
- Certified financial statements for the prior two (2) years prepared by an independent certified public accountant that establishes that the TPA is solvent and that the TPA’s system of accounting, internal procedure, and control in operating effectively to provide reasonable assurance that the money is promptly accounted for and paid to the person entitled to the money.
- Attach a list of current insurers under contract.
- A list of key employees that manage or supervise the TPA’s business in this state.
Continuing Education
Electronic renewals will be available 90 days prior to the expiration date and will not be available after the expiration date.
Applicant must reinstate using Non-Resident Initial Licensing No Home State (NHS).
All License Classes
Renewal Period Begins: Ninety (90) days prior to expiration.
Renewal Period Ends: Last day of birth month odd/even.
