Rules and Regulations

Applicant Can

  • Submit adjuster license application for individuals electronically.
  • Print licenses electronically.
  • Submit an Adjuster Designated Home State (ADHS) renewal electronically.

Applicant Cannot

  • Late renew through NIPR's Non-Resident Adjuster Renewal Application.
  • Submit a partial renewal. All Lines of Authority must be renewed.

Business Rules

  • General Requirements

    • Applicant must hold an active renewable Alaska license.
    • Partial renewals are not allowed. All active lines of authority must be renewed.
      • Applicants wishing to remove a line of authority must contact the Alaska Division of Insurance prior to renewal.
      • Lines of authority cannot be removed through the renewal application.
    • If the applicant answers "Yes" to any background question, supporting documentation must be submitted electronically through NIPR's Attachments Warehouse.
      • If the administrative action identified in the background questions has been taken or the licensee has been charged with a crime, a statement of the circumstances and copies of court documents may be required for state review.
    • Applications not completed within four (4) months from the date filed will be considered withdrawn. A new application and applicable fees will be required pursuant to Alaska Statute 21.27.040(f).
  • Adjuster Designated Home State (ADHS) Renewal Requirements

    • Applicant must not hold an active resident adjuster license in any state.
    • Applicants holding an active resident producer/non-adjuster license in a state that licenses resident adjusters may not designate a home state.
    • If the designated home state license becomes inactive, the applicant may designate another state where an active nonresident adjuster license is held.
    • Alaska may be selected as an Adjuster Designated Home State while renewing a nonresident Alaska adjuster license.
    • Only Independent Adjusters and Portable Electronics Adjusters may designate a home state.

License expiration occurs on the last day of birth month biennially.

Begins: Ninety (90) days prior to expiration date. Ends: Expiration date.

Late renewal period

Reinstatement period

Begins: One (1) day after expiration date. Ends: Two (2) years after expiration date. Reinstatement applications must be submitted through the Initial Application process.

Portable Electronics Adjuster

Renewal period

Begins: Ninety (90) days prior to expiration date. Ends: Expiration date.
