Rules and Regulations

Applicant Can

  • Submit initial license for individuals electronically.
  • Submit major lines of authority.
  • Submit limited lines of authority.
  • Submit Surplus Lines for individuals.
  • Add lines of authority (amend) to an existing active license.
  • Reinstate/reapply through NIPR's Non-Resident License Application.
  • Print Licenses Electronically.

Applicant Cannot

  • Submit partial renewals.

Business Rules

  • Applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years old.

  • Applicant's name, birth date, license number, state of residence, Tax ID, and National Producer Number (NPN) must match current Producer Database (PDB) record for resident state.

  • Applicant must provide a valid country code and business email.

  • Applicant may not apply for a license in their own resident state.

  • Applicant must not have a residence address in the state of New Hampshire.

  • Applicants with a status reason of 'Revoked' or 'Suspended' will not be allowed to apply electronically. Please contact the New Hampshire Insurance Department.

  • Variable Life and Variable Annuity applicants must supply FINRA CRD number.

  • Applicant holding 'Property & Casualty' LOA is not allowed to apply for Property, Casualty, or Personal Lines.

  • Life Settlement Producer applicants must hold an active Insurance Producer license with the Life LOA in New Hampshire.

  • Applicants amending a license must not be in a 90 day renewal or late renewal period.

  • Additional Documentation Requirements:

    • Any required documentation must be submitted within thirty (30) days of the application date or the application will be declined and fees forfeited.
    • Documents should be submitted electronically through NIPR’s Attachments Warehouse. Documents may also be submitted to the state via email or mail.
    • All correspondence must include the applicant’s name, SSN/FEIN, NIPR Transaction Number, and National Producer Number (NPN), if available.
    • Background Questions:
      • If the applicant answers “Yes” to any background question, the following documentation is required:
        • A written statement explaining the circumstances
        • A copy of the official document demonstrating the resolution of the charges or final judgment
  • Non-Citizen Requirements

    Applicants who are not U.S. citizens must meet the following requirements:

    • Must hold a valid U.S. resident license
    • Must have a U.S. mailing address
    • Must provide a valid U.S. residential address
