Rules and Regulations

Applicant Can

  • Submit initial license for business entities electronically.
  • Submit major lines of authority.
  • Submit limited lines of authority.
  • Submit surplus lines for business entities.
  • Add lines of authority (amend) to an existing active license.
  • Reinstate/reapply through NIPR's Resident License (RL) Application.
  • Print licenses electronically

Business Rules

  • Applicant must be one of the following legal business types:
    • Corporation
    • Partnership
    • Limited Liability Company (LLC)
    • Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)
    • Sole Proprietor
  • A producer licensed with a casualty line of authority (LOA) may sell travel without a separate license or qualification.

  • Resident surplus lines broker applicants must first actively hold both single lines of producer property and casualty in Wyoming.

  • Resident surplus lines broker applicants must include a $10,000 surplus lines bond issued on the required surplus lines bond form with the state of Wyoming as obligee. The form may be found on the state website.

  • Resident Adjuster applicants must apply for both the Adjuster - Property and Adjuster - Casualty simultaneously.

  • Applicant must provide a valid business/residence phone number and both business and personal email addresses.

  • At least one (1) Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) must be provided on the application.

  • DRLP for Specialty Travel applicants must hold an active Wyoming Producer or Specialty Limited Line Producer License and have an active resident or non-resident license in Wyoming (No LOA requirement.).

  • DRLP for Crop applicants must hold an active Wyoming Producer or Limited Lines Producer License (resident or non-resident) with a Crop or Property line of authority.

  • License classes with LOA(s) in status reason: “Failure to Renew – Reinstatable” will need to use renewal applications.

  • License classes with LOA(s) in status reason: “Expired” will need to contact the Wyoming Department of Insurance at insurancelicensing@wyo.gov

  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via email at: insurancelicensing@wyo.gov.
