Applicant Can

Business Rules

  • Applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years old or older as determined from the applicant's date of birth.

  • Residence Address must not be P.O.Box.

  • No more than 6 digits allowed for business phone number extensions.

  • Non-Citizens (excluding Canadians) must hold U.S. resident license and provide U.S. mailing address and  must provide proof of Green Card. Please email proof to agentmail@doi.sc.gov within 90 days of application.

  • Applicant's license number must match current PDB record for resident state.

  • All of applicant's addresses must match current PDB record for resident state.

  • Applicant must not have an active resident license in the application state.

  • Applicant's resident state license must be active on PDB.

  • Applications for the Variable Life and Variable Annuity LOA may supply FINRA CRD number on application.

  • Applicant with a Resident SC license in an inactive status and no longer eligible for late renewal, applicant may reapply for their license at normal license fee.

  • Applicants applying for Insurance Producer license with Pre-Need Insurance must have Pre-need in their home state.  

  • Pre-need Insurance applicants must be actively licensed as a Funeral Director prior to applying. Pre-Need insurance applicants must also provide a copy of the South Carolina Funeral Director's license and submit letter of employment from a South Carolina licensed Funeral Home.

  • Applicants applying for Surplus Lines Broker license must be actively licensed in their resident state as a Surplus Lines Broker or have the excess/surplus line of authority in the resident state.

  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.
