Rules and Regulations
Applicant Can
- Submit renewals for individuals electronically.
- Submit renewals for major lines of authority.
- Submit renewals for limited lines of authority.
- Submit renewals for surplus lines for individuals.

Applicant Cannot
- Late renew through NIPR's Resident License Renewal (RLR) Application.
- Renew partial lines.
Business Rules
Applicant must not already hold equivalent license for the requested lines of authority (LOAs) in the state.
All reinstatements of inactive licenses will be processed through the Resident License (RL) Application.
All applications for Variable Life and Variable Annuity license must be applying for the Life line of authority or already have an active Life line of authority.
Applicants for the Variable Life and Variable Annuity line of authority (LOA) must supply FINRA CRD number on application.
An applicant applying for a Surplus Lines license must have an active North Dakota insurance producer license with Property and/or Casualty lines of authority on the PDB.
In order to renew, license must be active. Any other status will go back through the Resident License (RL) application. If applicant holds two licenses (one active and eligible for renewal, the other inactive) application should allow applicant to renew the active license and only reject the inactive license from going through Resident License Renewal (RLR) application. If applicant is applying the day after expiration date, they must use the Resident License (RL) application.
Insurance producer Continuing Education (CE) renewals will be due biennially on the last day of birth month.
If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions, please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.

Continuing Education
NIPR verifies compliance with the states CE requirement prior to allowing submission of a renewal application. You may select your resident state on the following link: Verify My CE to view your CE transcript and determine whether the state has updated your status to compliant in their system and on what date. It generally takes up to 72 hours from the compliance date for the status to be updated in our system.
