Business Rules

The NIPR does not maintain or process course completion data. Access to the renewal application is granted once the state electronically notifies the NIPR that you are CE compliant. We are unable to override the status. You may select your resident state name from the map on the following link: /map_continuing_education_requirements.htm to view your CE transcript and determine whether the state has updated your status to compliant in their system and on what date. It generally takes up to 72 hours from the compliance date for the status to be updated in our system.

Applicants may use Resident Licensing Renewals to late renew if they are applying within one year of expiration date.

If Applicants license is Expired, applicant must be Fingerprinted. Please note that the producer licensing bureau does not consider the application complete until the background check process is completed. More information is available on the OSI website Fingerprint Requirements page.

Applicants must reinstate through Resident Licensing one year after license expiration date.

Applicant must provide a valid residence address and two valid proof of residency documents. Physical Residence address may not contain a P.O. Box.

Surplus Line Broker applicants must have an active Insurance Producer license

Please submit supporting documents and all other required documents electronically via NIPR's Attachment Warehouse or submit to the state via mail, email, or fax.

Applicant required 24 hours of continuing education. The 24 hours is required to consist of 3 hours of ethics and 21 general. A minimum of 3 hours for each compliance period must be earned through Classroom, Classroom Equivalent, Webinar or Seminar.

To terminate a Line of Authority- send a request to Agents.licensing@osi.nm.gov indicating your NM License number what LOA is to be terminated.
Exam scores are valid for 1 year from the passed Exam date.
No exam is required of an applicant for a license covering the same kind or kinds of insurance as to which licensed in this state within 1 year preceding date of application for the new license, unless the previous license was suspended, revoked or continuation thereof refused by the superintendent
