Apply for a license

To apply for a license in New Mexico, visit LicenseHub.
If you can’t apply for the lines for which you have qualified, contact the state to verify that they have received the exams and any necessary pre-licensing education completion information. Also ensure that they have reported this to NIPR with the correct last name, social security number and date of birth.

Renew a license

To renew a license in New Mexico, visit LicenseHub.

If you can’t renew a particular line offered via NIPR, verify that the line is actively held in your resident state. If the line is not held, you cannot request that line via NIPR.

Visit the Producers page on the New Mexico Office of Superintendent of Insurance website.

Cancel or surrender a line of authority

Cancel a license: Complete the License Cancellation Form. Follow the submission instructions included on the form.

Surrender a line of authority: Email your request to Agents.Licensing@OSI.NM.gov. Include your New Mexico license number and specify the line of authority you wish to cancel.

Report a legal name change – individual or entity

To report a legal name change:

Individual: Complete the Individual Licensee Name Change Request form.

Entity: Complete the Business Entity Name Change Request form.

Follow the submission instructions included on the forms.

Update contact information – individual or entity

To update contact information for an insurance professional, visit LicenseHub. Find information on the contact update process on our Contact Change Request page.

Report changes to Affiliations or Designated Responsible Licensed Producers

Complete the Designated Responsible License Producer Change Request form. Follow the submission instructions included on the form.

Report changes to Owners, Officers, Partners or Directors

To report changes to Owners, Officers, Partners or Directors, submit a signed request on a letterhead to Agents.Licensing@OSI.NM.gov.

Find exam score validity period

Insurance exam scores in New Mexico are valid for 12 Months.

NOTE: An exam is not required if you apply for a license covering the same type of insurance for which you were previously licensed in this state within the past year—unless your prior license was suspended, revoked or denied renewal by the superintendent.
