Rules and Regulations

Applicant Can

  • Submit Adjuster for individuals electronically.
  • Submit Adjuster Designated Home State (ADHS) electronically.
  • Print licenses electronically.

Applicant Cannot

  • Submit Adjuster for business entities electronically.
  • Submit partial renewals.

Business Rules

  • Applicants may use Non-Resident Adjuster Licensing Renewals to late renew if they are applying within one year of expiration date.

  • Applicants must reinstate through Non-Resident Adjuster Licensing one year after license expiration date.

  • If Applicant wants to list New Mexico as the Adjuster Designated Home State, the Non-Resident License Renewal (No Home State) Application is required.

  • Public Adjuster applicants shall file with OSI a surety bond Continuation Certificate in favor of the superintendent in the aggregate amount of ten thousand dollars ($10,000). The bond shall be one executed by an authorized surety insurer. The bond must be submitted to the Office of Superintendent of Insurance (OSI) office prior to or immediately after submitting the application through NIPR. Electronic submission required. Bond may be uploaded to NIPR's Attachment Warehouse or emailed to Agents.licensing@osi.nm.gov. Additional information and bond forms can be found on the NM OSI website Bond link. 

  • Applicant must provide a valid residence address. Residence address may not contain a P.O. Box.

  • Adjuster Designated Home State (ADHS) Rules:

    • For an applicant to designate an Adjuster Designated Home State, during the application process, the applicant must have an active non-resident adjuster license and no active resident adjuster license.
    • If applicant holds an active resident non-adjuster license in a state that licenses resident adjusters, the applicant may not designate an Adjuster Designated Home State.
    • If the Adjuster Designated Home State license is inactive at the time of application, applicant may select another non-resident state with an active adjuster license as the Adjuster Designated Home State.
    • If Applicant wants to list New Mexico as the Adjuster Designated Home State, the Non-Resident License (No Home State) Application is required.
  • Public Adjusters cannot designate a home state.

  • Independent and Staff Adjuster licenses converted to the Property and Casualty LOA, with options to add Workers Compensation and Public Entity LOAs.

  • Please submit supporting documents and all other required documents electronically via NIPR's Attachment Warehouse or submit to the state via mail, email, or fax.
