Rules and Regulations
Applicant Can
- Submit renewals for business entities electronically.

- Submit partial renewals.
Business Rules
Business Entity applicants cannot use a Social Security Number (SSN) as their Federal Employee Identification Number (FEIN). Documentation will be required to validate the FEIN prior to approval. Submit an Employee Identification Number (EIN) Verification Letter (147C) issued by the IRS or any other acceptable document issued by the IRS verifying the FEIN by email to KDOI.Licensing@ks.gov or uploaded to the attachments warehouse. This document is required for all business entity types, including sole proprietorship. To obtain a copy of the EIN Verification letter call 1-800-829-4933 (option 1 for English or 2 for Spanish) then option 2.
If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse.
- Pharmacy Benefit Manager renewal applicants must complete the following:
- Network adequacy report
- Pharmacy Benefit Manager Contact Form

- Third Party Administrator applicants must submit TPA supplemental documentation to the Kansas Department of Insurance via the NIPR's Attachments Warehouse.

- Please apply using the No Home State renewal application if your home state is not specified.
At least one Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) is required on the Business Entity applications. If DRLP is left blank the transaction will be declined. Each Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) listed on the application must be actively licensed in Kansas (resident or non-resident) as an Insurance Producer.
- Exception: the following license classes do not require a DRLP and can be left blank:

Business Entity Licensees must reapply (by submitting a new application) immediately following the license expiration date. There is no Late Renewal Period.
Applicants with a status reason of Voluntary Surrender are not eligible for renewal and are required to reapply through initial licensing application.
PO Boxes and Private Mailboxes (PMB) are only permitted in the mailing address field.
Bond Requirements are not checked on renewals.
