Applicant Can
- Submit initial license for business entities electronically.
- Submit major lines of authority.
- Submit limited lines of authority.
- Add lines of authority (amend) to an existing active license.
- Reinstate/reapply through NIPR's Resident License (RL) Application.
- Print Licenses Electronically.
Applicant Cannot
- Submit surplus lines for business entities.
Business Rules
- Applicant must be one of the following legal business types:
- Corporation
- Partnership
- Limited Liability Company (LLC)
- Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)
- Domestic Business Entities must register with the Secretary of State in Idaho
- Please go to www.idsos.idaho.gov to find the forms and instructions for filing.
Applicant must not hold another active resident license in another state.
All applications for Variable Life and Variable Annuity LOA must already have an active Idaho ‘Life’ Line of Authority (LOA) on the PDB or be applying for a Life LOA at the same time.
Applicants applying for Variable Life and Variable Annuity LOA must supply FINRA CRD# on the application.
Applicants applying for the Public Adjuster license must forward an original $20,000 bond or irrevocable Letter of Credit in the amount of $20,000 to the following address: Idaho Dept of Insurance, P.O. Box 83720, Boise ID, 83720-0043.
Applicants applying for Bail Bond Agent license type will be deferred for bond requirement and appointment. Applicant must visit the following link and submit original bond in the amount of $15,000 and the COMPLETED AND SIGNED appointment form to: Idaho Dept of Insurance, P.O. Box 83720, Boise ID, 83720-0043

Each Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) provided on the application must be actively licensed in Idaho at the time the application is submitted.
- Designated Responsible Licensed Producer(s) (DRLP) must cumulatively cover all Lines of Authority (LOAs) requested on the application at the time the application is submitted. This applies to:
- Insurance Producer (PDB Code: 3)
- Bail Bond Agent (PDB Code: 58)
- Life Settlement Broker (PDB Code: 1390)
- Life Settlement Provider (PDB Code: 3652)
- If ‘adjuster’ applicant chooses to provide one or more Designated Responsible Licensed Producers (DRLP) on the application, each DRLP entered must hold same license class as that being applied for by the business. This applies to:
- Independent Adjuster
- Public Adjuster
Business address fields must not contain a PO Box or PMB (Private Mailbox).
Business Entity applicants must supply a business address that is in Idaho. If the business address is not in Idaho, the transaction will be declined.
Applicants for Life Settlement Broker or Life Settlement Provider must have active Insurance Producer license with ‘Life’ line of authority.
- Applicants with a status reason of Revoked cannot reapply for a period of five years from the date the license was revoked
- Note: Rule is applied at the applicant level
Applicants with a status reason of Voluntary Surrender (PDB Code 64) must reapply as a new applicant regardless of expiration date.
If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse.
