Rules and Regulations

Applicant Can

  • Submit initial license for individuals electronically.
  • Add lines of authority (amend) to an existing active license.
  • Reinstate/reapply through NIPR's No Home State License Application.
  • Print license electronically.

Applicant Cannot

  • Submit major lines of authority.
  • Submit limited lines of authority.

Business Rules

  • Applicant must not have an active resident state license on PDB in any state.

  • Applicant must renew the license before applying for additional lines/ amending.

  • An affiliation is not required and the applicant may proceed past the "Affiliations" page on the uniform application.

  • Casualty Adjuster or MVPD Appraiser

    • In order to apply through the No Home State application business address must not be in a state that licenses Adjusters.
  • Casualty Adjuster, Certified Insurance Consultant, Public Adjuster, Reinsurance Intermediary Broker, Reinsurance Intermediary Manager, MVPD Appraisers and Surety Bail Bond Agent applicants

    • May reinstate the day after expiration date.
    • Cannot enter 'Doing Business As" (DBA) name.
  • Surety Bail Bond Agent

  • Reinsurance Intermediary Broker and Reinsurance Intermediary Manager

  • Your application information will be reviewed and processed by the Connecticut Insurance Department. Most applications will be processed within 7-10 business days. You will receive email notification from the State once the LICENSE has been APPROVED. Check for your approved license at: www.ct.gov/cid. On the home page, select Licensing. On Licensing’s Home Page, select Verify and Print a License.

  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.
