Applicant Can
- Submit initial license for business entities electronically.

- Add lines of authority (amend) to an existing active license.

BE applicants must be one of the Legal Business Types listed below.

- Corporation
DRLP RULES:
- Insurance Producers, Certified Insurance Consultant, Surplus Lines, Casualty Adjusters, MVPD Appraisers, Surety Bail Bond Agent, and Public Adjusters require at least one active Designated Responsible Licensed Individual to hold the same license type but do not require lines to match.
- At least one Designated Responsible Licensed Individual listed must have either an active PA 187 Travel or Insurance Producer license type with a Property, Casualty, Life, Accident and Health or Sickness or Personal Lines line of authority if applying for PA 187 Travel.
- Actively licensed entities listed above may add new or delete an existing Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP).
Applicant must renew the license before applying for additional lines/ amending.
Insurance Producer applicants applying for a license after the expiration date, click Renew an Existing License. Do not apply for a new license under a different license class. Refunds will not be granted. If the applicant has questions or is unsure of what license to select, email Connecticut directly at: cid.licensing@ct.gov before the application is submitted
Insurance Producer with Life LOA must actively hold or be applying for in conjunction with Variable Life and Variable Annuities.
- Applicants must supply the FINRA CRD in the application for Variable Life and Variable Annuities
Insurance Producer and PA 187 Travel applicants that have been inactive for more than one year past expiration date may reinstate through (RL) application.
- Applicants can enter a DBA (doing business as) name. All other license types are prohibited.
Casualty Adjuster, MVPD Appraisers, Public Adjusters, Certified Insurance Consultant, Fraternal Agents, Reinsurance Intermediary Broker, Reinsurance Intermediary Manager, and Surplus Lines Life Settlement Broker applicants may reinstate the day after the expiration date for up to 2 years. After 2 years must retake the exam.
Casualty Adjuster applicants cannot apply for more than one line of authority within the license class on the same application.
Surplus Lines applicants must actively hold both single lines of Property and Casualty under the Insurance Producer license class prior to submitting the Surplus Lines Broker application.
Insurance Producer with Life Settlement Registration LOA
- Applicant must have held an active Insurance Producer Life license for at least one year to apply for a Life Settlement Registration authority.
- Applicant cannot add multiple lines of authority to Insurance Producer license when adding Life Settlement Registration.
- Reapplications - Insurance Producer Life must first be approved and displayed on the Producer Database before adding the Life Settlement Registration line of authority to license.
Third-Party Administrator applicants must submit documentation to the Connecticut Insurance Department as required by Connecticut Public Act 11-58 38a-720. Surety bond amount is $500,000. Attachments for "Yes" responses to questions 1-5 should be attached to the NIPR Warehouse.

Your application information will be reviewed and processed by the Connecticut Insurance Department. Most applications will be processed within 7-10 business days. You will receive email notification from the State once the LICENSE has been APPROVED. Check for your approved license at: www.ct.gov/cid. On the home page, select Licensing. On Licensing’s Home Page, select Verify and Print a License.
If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions 1-5 please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.
