  • Per application.
  • Insurance Producer and Portable Electronics Insurance applicants' failure to renew license by November 15th will result in a $50 late fee added to the regular renewal fee. If license is not renewed before January 1st, the license will be expired. Failure to renew by this date will result in a new license application and licensing fees.
  • Address violations will result in a $50 fine for all license classes.

Rules and Regulations

Applicant Can

  • Submit renewals for business entities electronically.
  • Submit renewals for major lines of authority.
  • Submit renewals for limited lines of authority.
  • Submit renewals for surplus lines for business entities.
  • Submit Partial renewals
  • Submit Non Resident Adjuster Renewals (NRAR) through Non Resident Renewal (NRR) application for business entities.
  • Renew through NIPR's Non-Resident Renewal (NRR) Application.
  • Print license electronically.

Business Rules

  • Alabama license numbers will no longer include the beginning alpha character or any leading zeros. Example: ""A012345"" will be ""12345"" or ""A001234"" will be ""1234"".

  • Insurance producer licenses renew at the line of authority (LOA) level.

  • At least one (1) Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) must be provided on the application.

  • All Designated Responsible Licensed Producers provided must have an active Alabama License.

  • Designated Responsible Licensed Producers provided on the application must cumulatively cover the Lines of Authority being applied for.

  • At least one (1) Designated Responsible Licensed Producer entered for Portable Electronics Insurance Small must actively be licensed as a Portable Electronics Insurance Small in AL.

  • At least one (1) Designated Responsible Licensed Producer entered for Portable Electronics Insurance Large must actively hold a Portable Electronics Insurance Large in AL.

  • Applicants may not apply for or hold Portable Electronics Insurance Small and Large simultaneously.

  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.

  • Please note: There may be a variance of seven (7) to ten (10) days between the effective date communicated in the email response generated from NIPR's online application and the actual effective date assigned by the state of Alabama. The actual effective date will be submitted to the Producer Database (PDB) and printed on the license. To verify the effective date, please visit the state website.

  • Please note, Alabama requires notification of address or email address change within 30 days of address change or an address violation fee will be assessed. If you hold an active license in Alabama you must use the Contact Change Request application by visiting the CCR Announcements. If your license is inactive on the Producer Database you must contact Alabama directly to make an address change. Updating an address within an initial or renewal license application will not update in the Alabama system.

Special Instructions

If the license has a status reason other than inactive, regardless of the expiration date, and the status effective date is <365 days, they will be able to reinstate through the non-resident renewal application.
