License management
Apply for a license
To apply for a license in Alabama, visit LicenseHub.
If you can’t apply for the lines for which you have qualified, contact the state to verify that they have received the exams and any necessary pre-licensing education completion information. Also ensure that they have reported this to NIPR with the correct last name, social security number and date of birth.
Renew a license
To renew a license in Alabama, visit LicenseHub.
If you can’t renew a particular line offered via NIPR, verify that the line is actively held in your resident state. If the line is not held, you cannot request that line via NIPR.

Cancel or surrender a line of authority
Visit the Request to Cancel or Surrender a Line of Authority page of the Alabama DOI website. Complete the relevant form and follow the submission instructions included on the form.

Report changes to Affiliations or Designated Responsible Licensed Producers
For changes related to affiliations or Designated Responsible Licensed Producers (DRLPs), complete the Change/Addition form on the Alabama DOI website. Submit your completed form to ProducerLicensing@Insurance.Alabama.gov
Report changes to Owners, Officers, Partners or Directors
Submit changes to Owners, Officers, Partners or Directors by fax to 334-240-3282.
Understand residency type changes
To report residency changes, complete the Notice of Address Change form on the Alabama DOI website. Follow the submission instructions included on the form.

To schedule a licensing exam, contact the University of Alabama (UA) at 205-348-3000. You can also visit the UA Insurance Testing page to register and pay for your exam.

Find exam score validity period
Insurance exam scores in Alabama are valid for 12 Months.
