Business Rules
Business Registration Requirements
- A person conducting business under any name other than their legal name must register with the New Hampshire Secretary of State prior to applying for a license.

Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants with a license status of 'Revoked' or 'Suspended' are not eligible to apply electronically.
Business Location Requirements
- Applicants must have a New Hampshire residence or principal place of business.
- Applicants that do not meet this requirement are not eligible to apply electronically.
Line of Authority Requirements
- Applicants applying for a Surplus Lines Producer license must hold an active Property and Casualty Insurance Producer license.
- Applicants applying for the Credit line of authority must have a DRLP that holds the Credit, Life, or Accident and Health or Sickness line of authority.
- Applicants applying for Variable Life and Variable Annuity must also hold the Life line of authority.
- Applicants applying for a Life Settlement Producer license must hold an active Producer license with a Life line of authority in New Hampshire.
Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP)
- DRLPs must collectively cover all lines of authority requested on the application, unless otherwise exempt.
Portable Electronics Restrictions
- Applicants may not hold or apply for both Portable Electronics Small and Portable Electronics Large license classes at the same time.
- If an agency has 10 or fewer locations, the Portable Electronics Small license class must be selected.
- If an agency has 11 or more locations, the Portable Electronics Large license class must be selected.
Background Questions & Documentation
- If an applicant responds "Yes" to any background question, supporting documentation must be provided.
- Documentation must be submitted within thirty (30) days of application submission or the application will be denied and fees forfeited.
- Submission Methods
- Submit electronically through NIPR's Attachments Warehouse.
- If electronic submission is not available, documentation may be submitted directly to the state.
- Documentation must include
- A written statement explaining the circumstances.
- Official documentation showing final resolution or judgment.
- Applicant name.
- Tax ID / FEIN.
- NIPR Transaction Number.
