Rules and Regulations
Applicant Can
- Submit renewals for business entities electronically.
- Submit late renewals for business entities electronically.
- Print licenses electronically.
Applicant Cannot
- Submit major lines of authority.
- Submit limited lines of authority.
- Submit a partial renewal. All Lines of Authority must be renewed.
Business Rules
Licensing Specific Requirements:
- Applicants that are required to submit supplemental documentation will need to visit WAOIC website for required forms and additional information. Documents may be uploaded to the Additional Documents section of the NIPR Attachments Warehouse.
- Applicant must provide a valid email address as their point of contact for all WA State licensing matters.
- Applicant must not have an active resident state license on PDB in any state.
- Applicant cannot renew earlier than 90 days prior to license expiration date.
Business address fields must not contain a PO Box or PMB (Private Mailbox).
PO Box and Private Mailbox (PMB) are allowed in the mailing address field.
Renewal Procedures:
- All available active lines must be renewed at the same time.
- Applicant must contact the department in writing (email preferred) if LOAs need to be removed and not renewed.
Portable Electronics:
- Applicants must submit at least one actively licensed affiliated individual in Washington as a resident or a non-resident.
- Applicants must submit at least one actively licensed Insurance Provider affiliate with Property and Casualty Line of Authority.
Affiliations:
- After a license has been issued, but prior to representing a business entity, applicant must be affiliated. Affiliations can be completed by the business entity on the Washington state website.
- A Business Entity must not be submitted as an affiliation.
- Applicants must submit at least one actively licensed affiliated individual in Washington as a resident or a non-resident.
- Each affiliated individual must hold an active Washington license on the Producer Database (PDB) for the class in which the business entity is applying.
Renewal Periods
All License Classes
- Renewal Period: Starts: Ninety (90) days prior to expiration date. Ends: On expiration date.
- Late Renewal Period Begins: One (1) day through thirty (30) days after expiration date – with penalty fee.
- Extended Late Renewal Period Begins: Thirty-one (31) days through sixty (60) days after expiration date – with additional penalty fee.
