State Requirements

Licensing Specific Requirements: 

• Applicants that are required to submit supplemental documentation will need to visit WAOIC website for required forms and additional information. Documents may be uploaded to the Additional Documents section of the NIPR Attachments Warehouse.
• Applicant must not have an active resident state license on PDB in any state.
• Applicant must provide a business address that is not located in Washington.
• Applicants must wait until an initial Washington application has been processed before submitting an additional application. Submitting a second application while a previous application is pending state approval will cause the second application to be declined.
• Business entity names may not contain any variation of the words “Insurance” and “Company,” including:
  • Insurance and Company
  • Ins and Company
  • Insurance and Co
  • Ins and Co
  • Insur and Comp

Amendment Guidelines: 

• Amendments are NOT allowed through NIPR. Business Entities are required to submit amendments directly to Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner. More information can be found here: Washington State Website - Amendments 

Property and Casualty Lines of Authority (LOAs): 

• Applicants must apply for both Property and Casualty lines of authority for the following license classes: 
• Portable Electronics
• Premium Finance Company 

Portable Electronics: 

• Applicants are required to submit supplemental documentation.  For more information:  https://www.insurance.wa.gov/producers-adjusters/licensing/get-licensed
• Applicants must submit at least one actively licensed affiliated individual in Washington as a resident or a non-resident.  
• Applicants must submit at least one actively licensed Insurance Provider affiliate with Property and Casualty Line of Authority.

Affiliation Modification:

• Applicants may NOT modify existing affiliations through NIPR. Business Entity applicants that wish to report changes to affiliations must apply directly to Washington:  Get licensed | Washington state Office of the Insurance Commissioner. 
• A Business Entity must not be submitted as an affiliation.

Background Questions: 

• If an applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions, please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse.
