Business Rules

  • After one (1) year past license expiration date, applicant must reinstate through the Resident License (RL) Application.

  • Applicant cannot renew or reinstate license day one (1) through day three (3) after expiration date.

  • If renewing for the license type surplus lines, applicant must hold an active resident producer license in Utah with equivalent active property and/or casualty lines of authority (LOAs).

  • Resident independent adjusters and resident public adjusters may not renew or reinstate if they have a status reason of 'Temporary License-Expired' or the time frame between issue date and expiration date is less than ninety-three (93) days.

  • Applicants renewing for resident reinsurance intermediary or managing general agent licenses must first hold an active resident producer license with equivalent LOAs.

  • Applicant with a resident Utah license in an active or inactive status may not late renew electronically if status reason is canceled, deceased, denied, revoked, failure to maintain or surrendered in lieu of admin.

  • Applicants with the following status reasons may apply through initial applications at any time electronically: canceled.

  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.

  • All individual Producers and Consultants must read the Utah HB 205 notice https://insurance.utah.gov/news/hb205-veteran-claim-assistance-disclosure.

Renewal Period:

  • Starts: Ninety (90) days prior to expiration date.
  • Ends: Expiration date.
  • NIPR does not verify compliance with the states CE requirement prior to allowing submission of a renewal application, however compliance is required prior to the states approval of the request. You may select your resident state on the following link: Verify My CE to view your CE transcript and determine whether the state has updated your status to compliant in their system and on what date.  It generally takes up to 72 hours from the compliance date for the status to be updated in our system.
