Rules and Regulations
Applicant Can
- Submit initial license for individuals electronically.
- Submit major lines of authority.
- Submit limited lines of authority.
- Submit surplus lines for individuals.
- Add lines of authority (amend) to an existing active license.
- Reinstate/reapply through NIPR's Non-Resident License (NRL) Application.
- Print license electronically.
Business Rules
Applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years old or older as determined from the applicant's date of birth.
Applicant cannot late renew an inactive resident or non-resident license. Applicant must reinstate or reapply through NIPR’s Non-Resident License (NRL) Application.
Applicant with a non-resident Utah license in an active or inactive status may not reinstate electronically if status reason is deceased, denied, revoked, failure to maintain or surrendered in lieu of admin. Note: Applicant may amend license for a line of authority (LOA) that does not have one of the listed status reasons.
Applicants with the following status reasons may apply through initial applications at any time electronically: canceled.
Applicant cannot amend license on a date past license expiration date. Applicant must reinstate through the Non-Resident Renewal (NRR) Application.
Surplus lines applicants must actively hold both single lines of non-resident producer property and non-resident producer casualty on the PDB.
Applicants applying for a reinsurance intermediary license must first hold an active non-resident producer license with equivalent LOAs.
If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.
