Types of Address Changes

• There are two types of address changes:
• Address change within the same state: The street address, city or ZIP code changes, but the state remains the same. For example, moving from Memphis, Tennessee, to Nashville, Tennessee.
• State code change: The address changes from one state to another. For example, moving from Tennessee to Iowa.
• If your residence is moving to another state, contact the Department of Insurance in the state you are moving to before submitting an address change. Each state has its own process for changing license residency, and a residency change may require more than updating your address through NIPR.

General Requirements

• Applicant’s Tennessee license must be in active status on PDB.

Address Changes Within the Same State

• Resident Tennessee Licensees
• Resident Tennessee licensees may submit the following address changes when the state remains the same:
• Residence address changes for individual applicants.
• Business address changes for individual and business entity applicants.
• Mailing address changes for individual and business entity applicants.
• Nonresident Tennessee Licensees
• For a nonresident Tennessee licensee, the address submitted to Tennessee must match the corresponding address associated with the resident or home-state license on PDB, if applicable.
• For individual applicants, the residence address must match the residence address associated with the resident or home-state license.
• For individual and business entity applicants, the business address must match the business address associated with the resident or home-state license.
• For individual and business entity applicants, the mailing address must match the mailing address associated with the resident or home-state license.
• If the addresses do not match, a Contact Change Request for the resident or home-state license must already have been submitted or must be submitted concurrently with the Tennessee request.

State Code Changes

A state code change means changing an address from one state to another.

• Business address: State code changes are permitted.
• Mailing address: State code changes are permitted.
• Business Entity Applicants
• Business address: State code changes are permitted.
• Mailing address: State code changes are permitted.
• Nonresident Tennessee Licensees
• Individual Applicants
• Residence address: State code changes are not permitted through this application.
• Business address: State code changes are permitted.
• Mailing address: State code changes are permitted.
• Business Entity Applicants
• Business address: State code changes are not permitted through this application.
• Mailing address: State code changes are not permitted through this application.
