Applicant Can
- Submit renewals for business entities electronically.
- Submit renewals for major lines of authority.
- Submit renewals for limited lines of authority.
- Submit renewals for surplus lines for business entities.
- Late renew through NIPR's Resident License Renewal (RLR) Application.
- Print license electronically.
Applicant Cannot
- Renew partial lines.
Business Rules
Applicant must reapply through NIPR's Resident License (RL) Application, one (1) month after expiration date or if license has a voluntary surrender status reason.
Applicants renewing for Limited life, Viatical Settlements Investment Agent, Authorized Representative, Attorney in Fact, General Agent, Manager, or Reinsurance Intermediary Manager must have an active appointment on the Producer Database.
Applicant must reapply through NIPR's Resident License (RL) Application, one (1) month after expiration date or if license has a "voluntary surrender" status reason.
The following lines of authority must be renewed together under the same license class:
Designated Responsible Licensed Producers (DRLP) provided in the application for any license type must hold an active Authorized Person license in Puerto Rico. At least one (1) DRLP must hold all lines of authority requested in the business entity application. Surplus Lines Broker, General Agent, and Viatical Settlements Broker licenses are excluded from this rule. At least one (1) DRLP, that holds all lines requested, is required to be listed as a director, officer, partner, or owner.
If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via
NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.- Life with Variable Life and Variable Annuity

Renewal Periods
All License Classes
Renewal Period:
- Starts: Ninety (90) days prior to expiration.
- Ends: Expiration date.
