Rules and Regulations
Applicant Can
- Submit renewals for business entities electronically.
- Submit renewals for major lines of authority.
- Submit renewals for limited lines of authority.
- Submit renewals for surplus lines for business entities.
- Submit Non Resident Adjuster Renewal (NRAR) through Non Resident Renewal (NRR) for business entities.
- Late renew through NIPR's Non-Resident Renewal (NRR) Application.
- Print Licenses Electronically.
Applicant Cannot
- Submit partial renewals.
Business Rules
Applicant must be one of the following legal business types:
- Corporation
- Partnership
- Limited Liability Company (LLC)
- Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)
Applicant must hold an active renewable license and an active equivalent license for the requested LOA(s) in Pennsylvania.
The business entity name will be reviewed upon application submission. Registration with the Pennsylvania Department of State may be required. Instructions will be sent upon issuance of license.
At least one Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) must be entered on the application. DRLP(s) must cumulatively hold all LOAs being applied for by the Business Entity.
Late renewals will begin the day after license expiration date and continue until 60 days after expiration with a late penalty fee.
Applicants renewing the following license classes may renew from expiration date until 60 days after expiration date. After 61 days applicant must reapply through the Resident Licensing application:
- Resident Public Adjuster
- Motor Vehicle Physical Damage Appraiser
- RES VIAT SETTLEMENTS BROKER
Reinstatement of inactive license LOA's are accepted through Non-Resident Renewals (NRR) if the LOA status reason is "Failure to Renew – Reinstateable."
Licenses within the late renewal cycle window will remain in active status beginning the day after license expiration and continue until 60 days after expiration. After 60 days the license status will change to inactive.
Non-Resident Producer Agency licenses renew biennially by original issue date.
Non-Resident Surplus Lines Agency licenses renew biennially by last day of month issued.
If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via
NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The following documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax:- A written statement summarizing the details of each incident.
- A copy of the petition, complaint or other document that commenced the criminal, lawsuit, arbitration, or mediation proceedings.
- A copy of the official document, which demonstrates the resolution of the charges or any final judgment.

Amendments are not allowed during the renewal period of the same license class being applied for. The license must be renewed before a new line can be added.
