Rules and Regulations

Applicant Can

  • Submit initial license for business entities electronically.
  • Submit major lines of authority.
  • Submit limited lines of authority.
  • Submit surplus lines for business entities.
  • Submit Non Resident Adjuster License (NRAL) through Non Resident License (NRL) application for business entities.
  • Add lines of authority (amend) to an existing active license.
  • Reinstate/reapply through NIPR's Non-Resident License (NRL) Application.
  • Print license electronically.

Business Rules

  • Applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years old or older as determined from the applicant's date of birth.

  • Applicant's name, birth date, license number, state of residence, Tax ID, and National Producer Number (NPN) must match current Producer Database (PDB) record for resident state.

  • Applicant must provide a valid country code, mailing address, business email, and resident phone number..

  • Applicant may not apply for a license in their own resident state.

  • North Dakota will allow reinstatement of a license the day after license expiration date. Prior to the expiration date, applicant must use Non-Resident Renewal (NRR) application unless the status is cancelled - voluntary surrender.

  • Applicants for the Variable Life and Variable Annuity line of authority (LOA) must supply FINRA CRD number on application.

  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions, please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.
