Rules and Regulations
Applicant Can
- Submit initial license for business entities electronically.
- Submit for major lines of authority.
- Submit for limited lines of authority.
- Submit surplus lines for business entities.
- Reinstate/reapply through NIPR's Resident License (RL) Application.
- Print license electronically.
Applicant Cannot
- Add lines of authority (amend) to an existing active license.
Business Rules
Applicant must provide a valid country code, mailing address, business email, and business phone number.
At least one (1) Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) must be listed on the application, with the exception of the following classes: Navigator, Pre-Need Seller, Agency-Rental Car, Utilization Review Agent, Reinsurance Intermediary Broker, Reinsurance Intermediary Manager, and Independent Review Organization licenses.
Each Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) listed must have an active resident or non-resident license in Nebraska.
Nebraska Business Entity Applicants: Applicant cannot make changes to the Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) information electronically. To amend or delete a DRLP, please complete a Designated Responsible Licensed Producer Amendment Form and submit it to the Nebraska Department of Insurance.
If your Business Entity license is expired and it has been less than thirty (30) days, you can late renew it through the regular renewal process. A $50 late fee will be assessed on late renewals. If the license has been expired for over thirty (30) days but less than one (1) year, you can reinstate the license by submitting a new application, $50 application fee, and the $50 late fee.
If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions, please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.
Consultant-Corporate applicants must list at least one Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) that holds an active Consultant-Individual license with Life & Health or Property & Casualty line of authority (LOA) in Nebraska.
Applicants applying for a business entity Agency-Travel license class must submit an Authorized Travel Retailers form to the Nebraska Department of Insurance.
- License Type Specific Qualifications
All applications for the Managing General Agent license class must provide proof of surety bond to the state.
Applicants for the Utilization Review Agent license and Independent Review Organization license must provide proof of an approval or accreditation by URAC or NCQUA to the state.
