License management
Apply for a license
To apply for a license in Nebraska, visit LicenseHub.
If you can’t apply for the lines for which you have qualified, contact the state to verify that they have received the exams and any necessary pre-licensing education completion information. Also ensure that they have reported this to NIPR with the correct last name, social security number and date of birth.
Renew a license
To renew a license in Nebraska, visit LicenseHub.
If you can’t renew a particular line offered via NIPR, verify that the line is actively held in your resident state. If the line is not held, you cannot request that line via NIPR.

Cancel or surrender a line of authority
- Cancel a license: Complete the Voluntary License Cancellation/Surrender form.
- Remove a line of authority: Complete the Change Request Form for Individuals form.

Report changes to Affiliations or Designated Responsible Licensed Producers
For changes related to affiliations or Designated Responsible Licensed Producers (DRLPs), visit the LicenseHub.
Report changes to Owners, Officers, Partners or Directors
The Nebraska DOI does not track changes to Owners, Officers, Partners or Directors.
Understand residency type changes
- Transitioning from non-resident to resident status: Start by updating the status of your previous resident license. Once they confirm the update, contact the Nebraska DOI Licensing Division at the number listed at the bottom of this page. Be sure to submit your state change request within 90 days of relocating.
- Changing from resident to non-resident status: First check with your new home state for their process on obtaining a resident insurance license. Some states may require you to cancel your Nebraska license first, while others allow you to keep it active until they issue their resident license. Once you've confirmed the requirements, you can either cancel your Nebraska license or update it to non-resident status.
