Rules and Regulations

Applicant Can

  • Submit renewals for individuals electronically.
  • Submit renewals for major lines of authority.
  • Submit renewals for limited lines of authority.
  • Submit renewals for surplus lines for individuals.
  • Late renew through NIPR's Non-Resident Renewal (NRR) Application.
  • Print licenses electronically.

Applicant Cannot

  • Submit partial renewals.

Business Rules

  • Applicant cannot renew an inactive license, but they may renew an expired license up to one (1) year after expiration. If the license is inactive, applicant must reinstate or reapply through Non-Resident (NRL) Application.

  • Applicant must actively hold:

    • Insurance Producer Life if applying for Insurance Producer Variable LOA.
    • Insurance Producer Life if applying for Insurance Producer Viatical LOA.
    • Insurance Producer Property and Casualty if applying for Surplus Lines Producer.
    • Insurance Producer Disability (Health) if applying for Certified Exchange Producer.
    • An Insurance Producer license, with any LOA, if applying for Managing General Agent.
  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions, please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.

Renewal Periods

  • All license classes
    • Renewal Period: Ninety (90) days prior to expiration.
    • Late Renewal Period: Up to one (1) year after expiration date
