License management
Apply for a license
To apply for a license in Montana, visit LicenseHub.
If you can’t apply for the lines for which you have qualified, contact the state to verify that they have received the exams and any necessary pre-licensing education completion information. Also ensure that they have reported this to NIPR with the correct last name, social security number and date of birth.
Renew a license
To renew a license in Montana, visit LicenseHub.
If you can’t renew a particular line offered via NIPR, verify that the line is actively held in your resident state. If the line is not held, you cannot request that line via NIPR.
Print a license
To print your license, access your state’s license print tool and follow the instructions on the page.
Find current producer licensing information
Visit the Producer, Adjuster & Consultant Licensing page of the Montana Commissioner of Securities and Insurance (CSI) website.
Cancel or surrender a line of authority
To surrender a license or delete a line of authority, submit a request with the licensee’s name, license number and signature to ProducerLicensing@MT.gov.

Report a legal name change – individual or entity

Update contact information – individual or entity

Report changes to Affiliations or Designated Responsible Licensed Producers
For changes related to affiliations or Designated Responsible Licensed Producers (DRLPs), submit a request to ProducerLicensing@MT.gov. The request should include the full name and license number of the person to be added and/or deleted.
Report changes to Owners, Officers, Partners or Directors
The Montana CSI does not track changes to Owners, Officers, Partners or Directors.
Understand residency type changes
For residency type changes, submit a request to ProducerLicensing@MT.gov. The request should include the licensee's full name, license number, current resident state, and new resident state.
