Business Rules

  • Fingerprinting Requirement

    • A state criminal history background check and fingerprinting are required before an Appraiser or Umpire license can be issued.
    • Fingerprinting must be completed through Fieldprint using Iowa Fieldprint code FPIADOINONRES.

    • Note: NIPR does not process fingerprinting or criminal history checks and cannot answer questions regarding fingerprinting. Questions must be directed to the Iowa Insurance Division or the fingerprint vendor.
  • Applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years old or older as determined from the applicant's date of birth.

  • Applicant must provide a valid country code.

  • P.O. Boxes are only allowed for mailing addresses.

  • Applicant may not apply for a license in their own resident state.

  • Non-Citizen of U.S. must provide a copy of a work permit issued by the Department of Immigration.

  • Applicants applying for the Sales Agent license class must specify an affiliation with an active license in Iowa. Affiliations must hold Preneed Seller License.

  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.
