Business Rules

  • Applicant renewing surplus lines must have an active producer license with property and casualty lines of authority (LOAs). Applicants renewing surplus lines must also renew their producer license with property and casualty on the same day.

  • Applicants renewing life settlement broker or life settlement provider must have active producer license with Life LOA.

  • Idaho Department of Insurance requires bail agents to provide proof of fingerprints before processing a renewal. Applicants will need to contact the state for instructions. The renewal process will not be completed until a return is received from the FBI.

  • Applicants that have an inactive resident license with status reason Clearance must submit renewal via NRL application. The applicant has been cleared to apply for a non-resident license in Idaho and must apply using the Non-Resident licensing application or submit a paper application to Idaho Department of Insurance if applying for a new Resident license.

  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.

Renewal Period: Ninety (90) days prior to expiration - Biennially on the last day of birth month.

Late Renewal: N/A

Applicants that have an inactive resident license with status reason Clearance must submit renewal via NRL application. The applicant has been cleared to apply for a non-resident license in Idaho and must apply using the Non-Resident licensing application or submit a paper application to Idaho Department of Insurance if applying for a new Resident license.

  • NIPR does not verify compliance with the states CE requirement prior to allowing submission of a renewal application, however compliance is required prior to the states approval of the request. You may select your resident state on the following link: Verify My CE to view your CE transcript and determine whether the state has updated your status to compliant in their system and on what date.  It generally takes up to 72 hours from the compliance date for the status to be updated in our system.

  • Before submitting a renewal application, applicants should first check their CE Transcript to make sure they are compliant.
