Applicant Can

Business Rules

  • Applicant must be one of the following legal business types:
    • Corporation
    • Partnership
    • Limited Liability Company (LLC)
    • Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)
  • Variable applicants must also request an active resident Life license to be eligible for variable products.

  • Applicants apply for variable must supply FINRA CRD# on the application.

  • Applicant applying for bail surety license must carry a $15,000 bond and an appointment secured from a surety Company. The applicant must submit original bond in the amount of $15,000 and the completed and signed appointment form to the state.

  • Domestic business entities must register with the Secretary of State in Idaho. Please go to the state website to find the forms and instructions for filing.

  • At least one (1) Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) must be provided on the application. The exception to this rule is for adjuster and resident third party administrator (TPA) applications.

  • Each DRLP provided on the application must be actively licensed in the state at the time the application is submitted. The exceptions to this rule are adjusters, TPA's and portable electronics applications.

  • DRLPs must cumulatively cover all lines of authority (LOAs) requested on the application at the time the application is submitted. Exceptions include: adjusters, TPA's and portable electronics applications.

  • Public Adjuster applications must provide a $20,000.00 bond or Irrevocable Letter of Credit in the amount of $20,000.00 to the Idaho Department of Insurance.

  • Applicant applying for a resident license that resides outside the state (border town) of Idaho will need to submit a paper application directly to Idaho Department of Insurance.

  • Applicants for life settlement broker or life settlement provider must have active producer license with life LOA.

  • If the TPA is a resident TPA administering self-funded health plans a bond in the amount of $100,000 using the Department of Insurance, a TPA bond form is required. The form may be accessed through the state website. Original bonds must be sent by mail to Idaho Department of Insurance.

  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The following documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax:
    • A written statement explaining the circumstances.
    • A copy of the charging document.
    • A copy of the official document which demonstrates the resolution of the charges or any final judgment.
  • Please include name, SSN, and NIPR Transaction Number on correspondence.

  • Reinstatements (late renewals) must be directed to resident licensing renewals for the Resident Producer license class if license status reason is “Failure to Renew – Reinstateable”.
