Rules and Regulations
Applicant Can
- Submit renewals for individuals electronically.
- Submit renewals for major lines of authority.
- Submit renewals for limited lines of authority.
- Submit renewals for surplus lines for individuals.
- Late renewal through NIPR's Non-Resident Renewal (NRR) Application.
- Print Licenses Electronically.
Applicant Cannot

Business Rules
Applicant cannot apply earlier than 90 days prior to license expiration date.
All license types will be allowed to late renew for up to one year past the license expiration date. After one year following license expiration date the applicant will need to apply through initial licensing application.
All active lines of authority will renew simultaneously (of those offered electronically through NIPR). No partial renewals will be accepted.
Idaho Department of Insurance requires bail agents to provide proof of fingerprints before processing a renewal. Non-residents will need to contact the state for instructions at agent@doi.idaho.gov. The renewal process will not be completed until a return is received from the FBI.
Bail Bond Agent applicants must visit the following link and submit original bond in the amount of $15,000 and the COMPLETED AND SIGNED appointment form to: Idaho Dept of Insurance, P.O. Box 83720, Boise ID, 83720-0043
Applicants for Life Settlement Broker or Life Settlement Provider must have active Insurance Producer license with Life line of authority.
Applicants renewing Managing General Agent must hold an active Insurance Producer license with active Property and Casualty lines of authority on PDB.
Applicants renewing Surplus Lines must hold an active Insurance Producer license with active Property and Casualty LOAs on PDB.
Surplus Lines applicants will be ‘mapped’ for Idaho non-residents. If the applicant holds an active Surplus Lines license in the resident state, the application will be allowed. If the applicant does not hold an active Surplus Lines license in the resident state, the application will be rejected.
- Residence and Business address fields must not contain a PO Box or PMB (Private Mailbox).
- PO Box and Private Mailbox (PMB) are allowed in the mailing address field
All instances of phone number must be a valid 10-digit phone number (extensions are allowed).
Applicants with a status reason of Voluntary Surrender are not eligible for renewal and are required to reapply through initial licensing application.
If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.
