Rules and Regulations

Applicant Can

  • Submit initial license for business entities electronically.
  • Submit limited lines of authority.
  • Add lines of authority (amend) to an existing active license.
  • Reinstate/reapply electronically.
  • Print license electronically.

Applicant Cannot

  • Submit major lines of authority.
  • Submit surplus lines for individuals.

Business Rules

  • Business address must not be in Alabama.

  • Applicant must not have an active resident state license on PDB in any state.

  • Applicant must be a Legal Business Types: Corporation, Partnership, Limited Liability Company (LLC) or Limited Liability (LLP).

  • At least one Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) is required on the application.

  • All Designated Responsible Licensed Producers (DRLP) on the application must be actively licensed (resident or non-resident) in Alabama.

  • The sum of all the Lines of Authority (LOA) applied for by the Business Applicant must be covered by the sum of the Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) actively licensed LOAs in Alabama.

  • Insurance Producer applicants must provide at least one officer and director.

  • Individual Producer and Adjuster can reinstate their license online through No Home State initials if license expiration date is greater than one year and status reason is inactive.

  • The business address for Business Entities cannot be a P.O. Box.

  • Insurance Producer and Adjuster applicants can late renew up to 30 days past expiration date through No Home State renewals.

  • Adjuster applicants applying for or holds an active Property and Casualty (including Workers' Compensation and Crop) cannot apply for the following LOA's:

    • Property and Casualty (excluding Workers' Compensation and Crop)
    • Workers' Compensation
    • Crop
  • Adjuster applicants cannot apply for Property and Casualty (including Workers' Compensation and Crop) if they actively hold any of the following LOA's:

    • Property and Casualty (excluding Workers' Compensation and Crop)
    • Workers' Compensation
    • Crop
