Understand residency type changes
Agents transferring to Oregon must first surrender their existing resident license or convert it to a non-resident license. Additionally, if the applicant already has an active Oregon non-resident license, they will need to surrender it as well.
Once the resident license is no longer active in the previous resident state, and there is no active Oregon license, the person can apply for an Oregon resident license online. If they apply within 90 days of establishing residency in Oregon, no exam or pre-license training is required for the lines they were licensed for in the previous domicile state.
The applicant must also submit fingerprints completed through an Oregon authorized vendor. For more information on the background check, visit the Producer Licensing page of the Oregon DFR website.
