License management
Apply for a license
To apply for a license in District of Columbia, visit LicenseHub.
If you can’t apply for the lines for which you have qualified, contact the state to verify that they have received the exams and any necessary pre-licensing education completion information. Also ensure that they have reported this to NIPR with the correct last name, social security number and date of birth.
Renew a license
To renew a license in District of Columbia, visit LicenseHub.
If you can’t renew a particular line offered via NIPR, verify that the line is actively held in your resident state. If the line is not held, you cannot request that line via NIPR.
Print a license
To print your license, access your state’s license print tool and follow the instructions on the page.

Cancel or surrender a line of authority
To cancel a license or surrender a line of authority, fax a written request to 202-354-1084. The request must include the DC license number and the producer’s signature.

Report changes to Affiliations or Designated Responsible Licensed Producers
For changes related to Designated Responsible Licensing Producers (DRLPs), submit a signed written request from an officer, director or licensing coordinator. The request should include the effective date of the change, along with the name and license details of the new DRLP and/or the DRLP being removed. Submit the request via fax to 202-354-1084.
Report changes to Owners, Officers, Partners or Directors
To update Owners, Officers, Partners or Directors, submit a signed written request from an officer, director or licensing coordinator. Include the licensee's name, DC license number, and old and new addresses. Fax your request to 202-354-1084.
Understand residency type changes
Most requests to change a residency type can be submitted via the LicenseHub. However, to become a DC resident, you must also schedule a fingerprint and background check appointment with FieldPrint. You can also send residency type changes by fax to 202-354-1084.
