License management
Apply for a license
To apply for a license in California, visit LicenseHub.
If you can’t apply for the lines for which you have qualified, contact the state to verify that they have received the exams and any necessary pre-licensing education completion information. Also ensure that they have reported this to NIPR with the correct last name, social security number and date of birth.
Renew a license
To renew a license in California, visit LicenseHub.
If you can’t renew a particular line offered via NIPR, verify that the line is actively held in your resident state. If the line is not held, you cannot request that line via NIPR.
Print a license
To print your license, access your state’s license print tool and follow the instructions on the page.
Find current producer licensing information
Visit the Agents & Brokers Overview page on the California Department of Insurance (DOI) website.
Cancel or surrender a line of authority
To surrender a license or delete a line of authority, complete the California Insurance License Cancellation Request form.
If another state requires a clearance letter, complete the Request Clearance Letter form to request one from California. Mail the letter, with the listed fee, to the address at the bottom of the form. Once the letter is issued, the state of California will automatically cancel your license.

Report changes to Affiliations or Designated Responsible Licensed Producers
For changes related to affiliations or Designated Responsible Licensed Producers (DRLPs), visit the Service Guide for Agents & Agencies website.
Report changes to Owners, Officers, Partners or Directors
To report changes to Owners, Officers, Partners or Directors, visit the Business Entity Endorsement section of the California DOI website.
Note: In California, only business entities report affiliations and/or DRLPs.

Schedule an exam
To schedule a licensing exam, visit the PSI Exams website or contact PSI at 877-392-6422.

Find exam score validity period
Insurance exam scores in California are valid for 12 Months.
