Rules and Regulations

Applicant Can

  • Submit initial license for business entities electronically.
  • Add lines of authority (amend) to an existing active license.
  • Reinstate/reapply through NIPR's No Home State License (NHS) Application.
  • Print license electronically.

Applicant Cannot

  • Submit major lines of authority.

Business Rules

  • A person conducting business under any name other than his/her own legal name must register with the New Hampshire Secretary of State prior to applying for the license.  Click here to register:

  • Business must be one of the following legal business types

    • Partnership
    • Limited Liability Company (LLC)
    • Limited Liability partnerships (LLP)
    • Corporation
    • Sole Proprietor
  • At least one (1) Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) must be provided on the application and have an active resident or non-resident license in New Hampshire.

  • The DRLPs provided must cumulatively cover the lines of authority (LOAs) on the application.

  • Insurance Producer Title applicants that do not have the state codes of KY and MA in the business address will not be eligible to apply.

  • Insurance Producer Motor Vehicle Road Service applicants that do not have the state codes of ME, FL, TX, IA, NJ, MA, IL, OH, VT in the business address will not be eligible to apply.

  • Insurance Producer Credit applicants that do not have the state codes of ME in the business address will not be eligible to apply.

  • Applicant may reinstate if status reason is Expired and application date is within 2 years of expiration date.

  • Applicants with a status reason of revoked or suspended will not be allowed to apply electronically. Applicant must contact New Hampshire Department of Insurance directly.

  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse.
