Rules and Regulations

Applicant Can

  • Submit initial license for business entities electronically.
  • Submit Non-Resident Adjuster Licensing (NRAL) through Non-Resident License (NRL) application for business entities.
  • Reinstate/reapply through NIPR's Non-Resident License (NRL) Application.
  • Print licenses electronically via www.maine.gov/insurance.

Applicant Cannot

  • Submit Surplus Lines for business entities.

Business Rules

  • Print licenses electronically via www.maine.gov/insurance.

  • Maine Line of Authority (LOA) option will show “LOA Not Applicable”.  In Maine, the business entity does not hold the lines of authority; the lines are held by the individuals affiliated to the entity.

  • At least one (1) Designated Responsible Licensed Producer (DRLP) must be provided on application and have an active resident or non-resident license in Maine.

  • If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions, please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax.
