Supporting Documentation Requirements
- Do not submit an application unless all required supporting documentation is ready to be provided.
- If an applicant responds “yes” to any background question or is otherwise required to submit additional documentation, those documents must be submitted as part of the application process.
- Preferred Submission Method
Supporting documentation should be uploaded electronically via NIPR’s Attachment Warehouse. Because access to the Attachment Warehouse is only available after an application is submitted, applicants should be prepared to upload all required documentation immediately upon submission. - Alternate Submission Methods
Supporting documents may also be submitted directly to the Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDI) via mail, email, or fax. If documentation is submitted using one of these methods: - Documents must be submitted the same day the license application is filed
- Documentation must include the application transaction number and applicant’s name
- Documentation submitted by mail must be postmarked within 24 hours of application submission
- Important: Applications submitted without complete supporting documentation may be closed as incomplete without further notice and may require reapplication.
- All required documentation must be received within thirty (30) days of application submission, or the application will be declined.
Upon license issuance and renewal, all Claims Adjusters licensed in Louisiana are required to read and acknowledge the claims adjuster standards of conduct provided in La. R.S. 22:1674.1 Your acknowledgement will be captured in a Louisiana state-specific question in the initial and renewal application submission. You may read review the standards of conduct on the Louisiana Department of Insurance website.
Late Renewal
- A late renewal may be submitted if the license or line of authority:
- Has a status reason of lapsed, and
- Is within two (2) years of the license or line of authority expiration date.
Reapplication
- Renewal is not available if the license or line of authority:
- Has been inactive for more than two (2) years, or
- Is inactive for any status reason other than lapsed (for example, canceled).
- In these cases, the applicant must reapply through the Initial License Application.
Renewal year: Determined by the license number
- Licenses ending in an even number renew in even-numbered years
- Licenses ending in an odd number renew in odd-numbered years
Adjuster Designated Home State (ADHS) Rules
- If an applicant chooses to designate a home state, the selected state must have an active non-resident adjuster license on the NIPR Producer Database (PDB).
- To designate a home state during renewal, the applicant must not hold an active resident adjuster license in any state.
- Applicants may not use an active resident producer (non-adjuster) license to renew a Louisiana non-resident claims adjuster license.
- If the applicant holds an active resident producer license in a state that licenses resident adjusters and is designating a non-resident adjuster license as their home state, the application is subject to review by the Louisiana Department of Insurance.
- If the applicant holds an active resident producer license in a state that does not license resident adjusters and is designating a non-resident adjuster license as their home state, the application is subject to review by the Louisiana Department of Insurance.
- If the applicant’s designated home state adjuster license is inactive at the time of renewal, the applicant must select a different state with an active non-resident adjuster license as the designated home state.
- An applicant may change the designated home state license currently on record by selecting a different state with an active non-resident adjuster license during the renewal process.
- During renewal only, applicants may designate Louisiana as the Adjuster Designated Home State when renewing a Louisiana non-resident adjuster license.
- Public Adjusters may not designate a home state.
